Mike’s Alaska Boat

So a buddy of mine was up playing in Alaska and came across this hard-working lady. He took a picture of it because it reminded him of me and my blog.

Should I be concerned that my friends now associate me with decrepit work boats?

Hmmm….

Aww shucks! I bet you say that to all the guys :o)) I guess I have been at it for rather a long time from tug driver, delivery skipper, commercial, dive boat skipper, sail boat skipper and “Yachtmaster, Offshore, commercial, power” (certificated)- ( I should be!) I`d still rather fly in helicopter rescue though and look at the beautiful scenery of where you all live. thanks for your comment you are very kind, I still learn something new each day Thanks for the comments T I visited the calypso when I attended a fish farming exibition in Brighton UK. they were giving tours of the boat by taking us out to the anchorage by rib from the beach, G*d that must have been 25 years ago! :o(( would have loved to ride in the bow viewing chamber.

T, no offense intended whatsoever! You are absolutely correct about my fondness for time-worn vessels, floating or not.I think it mostly caught me off guard, as this was another part of my life that I never expected or saw coming…”Hey, guys, let’s go take pictures of shipwrecks” was not something I would have anticipated that I’d ever say. That being said, this living aboard adventure is one of the happiest times in my entire life!

Hey, you got a problem with old and decript old boats? Don’t you like us?All kidding aside, you do like to take pictures of old boats so it stands to reason that he’d send that to you. It has very similar lines of the KJ though KJ is a far more bonny ship.Rob, John Wayne’s Wild Goose and Cousteau’s Calypso’s were sister ships of the Bowie. Though his was technically a YMS and the Bowie is a PCS the hull style was the same and only differed in engine power. PCS class were faster.I understand Wild Goose pretty much bankrupted Wayne as he raised all the decks up so he could walk around without banging his head.

its a similar style vessel and still working. it looks in good shape if lacking a little tlc I guess its as loved and respected as KJ but nowhere as suitable for your needs, as KJ isn`t for its needs! so wheres the problem? john waynes “superyacht” was an old US navy minesweeper, onassis`s was also. even they couldn`t afford a purpose build? or perhaps they didnt want one? KJ has more character in her wheelhouse window than any plastic modern motor yacht has in total :o))
