The Beagle Project
I was wandering around online and came across this interesting group. As KJ was built to replicate Darwin’s Galapagos trip, it’s an adventure rather close to my heart. Granted, KJ is certainly not a replica of HMS Beagle itself, but her original name was Beagle and I’ve often thought that it would be wonderful to actually make that trip (she never got to do it, as her owner at the time became ill).

What a lovely trip, you really should make it! I had a look at the beagle site and noted the “Beluga skysail”. Idea as an ex (just about most things) para gliding entheusiast, I rather liked the idea of using them as an auxilliary or even a principle source of power as long as the engines are there for dock manouvering, it could save you a fortune in fuel on the journey, all you need is a winch to set it and a couple of lines to steer with, I guess?
