A snapshot of the trip route we took. We stayed at Sucia, Jones, Stuart (Reid Harbor), Roche Harbor, Kingston, and finally Blake Island. I’m thinking we’ll put together a charter package that includes some of these stops. Sucia and Stuart felt very much off the beaten track (granted, it’s October!) and would be really fun to share with people who want to experience the San Juan Islands.

I Have all chain on the winch which I can haul out and winch in from the fly or the wheelhouse, but its electric :o(( so who knows when it will let me down. Great system though (hydraulic is better) I always try to anchor when I can but would you believe that Off Kimmeridge bay last year( in my old boat) it was pitch dark and about 2200.00 and as we hit the beach to go off celebrating a guy asked us for our fees :o(( thats Mud Island for you!

The state parks have mooring cans & docks and you have to pay for those. The kicker is that KJ is too big for any of them (they just won't hold 66T), so we always anchor. We may buy a pass next year for use of docks at some of the islands, but anchoring is always free, which is rather hard to beat! Especially since we have such a killer anchoring system (all the chain on the hydraulic winch) which Brock can handle alone if he chooses to take us fishing while I sleep in. Yes, I'm terribly spoiled!

What a lovely trip! you have so much on your “doorstep” the anchorages look lovely, I guess that you don`t have to pay? here as soon as you moor up a man with a peaked cap arrives in a “dink” and takes money off you :o((
