Yet Another Rescue At Big Four Ice Caves

Another one of our hot spots. Long night, no sleep. But happy endings are always a good thing. King County’s Guardian One came to assist, as our helo is down for maintenance.

Once again, the newspapers get the details wrong ~ very typical, unfortunately. Ah well, such is the media.

Mini-backpacking Trip

Kids and I went for a short overnight last week. Weather was lovely, if a bit on the hot side. Kids managed to cool off rather well with a swim in the lake.

They set up the tent all by themselves, which was fantastic. Somehow, it seems they’ve grown quite a bit. We all used to fit comfortably in this little 2 person tent…not so much anymore. Stewbie and I slept with our heads at one end and Nity the Wiggleworm had the middle with her head at the other end (giving us all maximum torso room). When I woke up at 4 am, I was startled to be looking straight into her face. I figured “Oh, how cute, she wanted to snuggle up closer to her Mama.” Then she woke up, looked equally surprised and whispered “How did my head get up here??” and promptly turned herself back around.

So much for the Snuggle Theory.

And no, I did not pose or stage this shot. They really enjoy each other’s company that much (most of the time).
